Zoner's Go Tigers! movie review
by Zoner 8/06/01
Like alot of you may have been, I was a little worried about this thing coming out. I’d heard quite a few bad things about it and was apprehensive about its release.
Those worries were gone a short 104 minutes later when the credits rolled and the movie was over.
Although they could have left out the part about the Tigers losing to Perry in the opening round of the play-offs, that wouldn’t have been the truth, and that’s exactly what this film is. The whole truth and nothing but the truth.
I don’t want to tell you anything that transpires in the flick, but a few thing that were said in the Repository need to be addressed.
1. There were a few gasps and moans at some of the language used by some of the players in locker room scenes. Well, let me tell you this much. If you think this is some kind of Disney wanna-be. It ain't. It’s the real deal, smash you in the mouth, kill or be killed life of football. Ladies and gentlemen, they ain’t talkin’ about macramé in there at halftime.
2. It was good to see that the parties haven’t changed much since this author graduated. These things have been going on for years. (You should have seen the one after we lost to Moeller in the state finals at OSU!)And while now being a father it made even me cringe a bit, if you don’t think these kids party, you really need a reality check.
That’s enough of the so-called negatives, as I think those are the only ones people who were rose colored glasses may find offensive.
A few things to watch closely are the interview with McK’s bulldog handler and the very in dumth er… uh…in depth interview with a certain coach to the east.
I really liked the film and came away ready for the Tigers to take the field that night.
It shows not only what Tiger football is to the players, but also what it means to the community.
Be proud Massillon! You are very well represented in this movie!
